Hello again, so glad yesterday’s family drama is behind me. Today I’m taking on one of the BIG ones when it comes to making excuses: B L A M E. I’ve noticed that placing BLAME is an almost automatic reaction to challenges and disappointments. YES, there are reasons and causes for setbacks but those should serve as launching pads for creative problem solving not pity parties. Victimhood is a tendency in our culture and that robs a person of overcoming power. Victimhood = IMPOTENCE.

See if you find yourself in any of these all too common Blame Statements. I did.

In traffic: “Hey, that guy cut me off and messed me up.” (Instead, how about getting better at defensive driving and more intense level of road-ready alertness? I can control that, not the other drivers.
“I can’t do xxx because of my {husband, wife, family, background, culture, RACE, …..}”.
“Nobody helped me….”. (Might be true but so what? Helpless mindset = IMPOTENCE.)
“IT’S HIS HER THEIR FAULT.” Nuff said. Not an effective response at all.

Declaration: I will assess circumstances and determine effective courses-of-action BY-PASSING THE BLAME GAME!!!! JUST STOP IT.
